Un destin o\u00f9 se m\u00ealent patriotisme, trahison et instinct de survie.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Une vie ordinaire boulevers\u00e9e par la guerre<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">N\u00e9e en 1908 au Creusot, Mathilde grandit loin des intrigues d\u2019espionnage. \u00c9tudiante \u00e0 la Sorbonne, elle devient institutrice, se marie avec un professeur, Maurice Carr\u00e9, et le suit un temps en Alg\u00e9rie. Mais son mari en 1944 est tu\u00e9 au combat\u00a0 de Monte Cassino en Italie pendant que Mathilde est dans les ge\u00f4les anglaises. De retour en France, Mathilde s\u2019engage comme infirmi\u00e8re.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">C\u2019est \u00e0 ce moment qu\u2019elle croise la route de\u00a0Roman Czerniawski, un officier polonais, qui a mont\u00e9 un r\u00e9seau d\u2019espionnage \u00e0 Paris\u00a0: Interalli\u00e9. Il recrute Mathilde. Elle prend le nom de code\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00ab\u00a0Victoire\u00a0\u00bb<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0et devient rapidement une pi\u00e8ce ma\u00eetresse du dispositif. Pour sa ruse et sa discr\u00e9tion, ses compagnons la surnomment bient\u00f4t\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00ab\u00a0La Chatte\u00a0\u00bb<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p><p><b>La chute du r\u00e9seau et le choix de la survie<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En novembre 1941, le r\u00e9seau tombe dans les filets de l\u2019Abwehr, les services secrets allemands. Arr\u00eat\u00e9e avec Czerniawski, Mathilde est interrog\u00e9e par le sergent Hugo Bleicher. Contrairement \u00e0 d\u2019autres r\u00e9sistants qui se taisent, elle choisit une autre voie\u00a0: elle collabore.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lib\u00e9r\u00e9e presque aussit\u00f4t, elle vit d\u00e9sormais avec Bleicher et l\u2019aide \u00e0 traquer ses anciens camarades. Son double jeu permet aux Allemands de d\u00e9manteler Interalli\u00e9 et d\u2019envoyer de faux messages \u00e0 Londres gr\u00e2ce aux \u00e9metteurs captur\u00e9s.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Le triple jeu et l\u2019embarquement vers Londres<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mais l\u2019histoire prend un nouveau tournant. Fin\u00a01942, Mathilde rencontre\u00a0Pierre de\u00a0Vom\u00e9court, agent du SOE britannique en France. Ensemble, ils montent une mise en sc\u00e8ne destin\u00e9e \u00e0 tromper les Allemands.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Convaincus, ces derniers autorisent son d\u00e9part avec Vom\u00e9court. En f\u00e9vrier 1943, les deux embarquent sur un navire britannique et rejoignent Londres. Mais \u00e0 leur arriv\u00e9e, Mathilde est enferm\u00e9e et restera derri\u00e8re les barreaux jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la fin du conflit.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Un proc\u00e8s tr\u00e8s m\u00e9diatis\u00e9<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ramen\u00e9e en France apr\u00e8s la guerre,\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La Chatte<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0est jug\u00e9e en janvier 1949. Les audiences r\u00e9v\u00e8lent son ambivalence, entre trahison assum\u00e9e et justification confuse. Son journal intime, cit\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019audience, choque\u00a0: elle y parle moins de patriotisme que de confort, d\u2019hommes et de musique.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La justice tranche : elle est condamn\u00e9e \u00e0 mort. Mais la peine est vite commu\u00e9e en prison \u00e0 perp\u00e9tuit\u00e9, puis r\u00e9duite. En 1954, Mathilde est lib\u00e9r\u00e9e, \u00e9chappant ainsi au sort de nombreux collaborateurs.<\/span><\/p><p><b>M\u00e9moire d\u2019une figure trouble<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Apr\u00e8s sa lib\u00e9ration, elle tente de r\u00e9\u00e9crire son histoire. Dans ses m\u00e9moires,\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">J\u2019ai \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0La Chatte\u00a0\u00bb<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0(1959), puis\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On m\u2019appelait la Chatte<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0(1975), elle se pr\u00e9sente comme une femme pi\u00e9g\u00e9e, manipul\u00e9e autant qu\u2019agente volontaire. Mais l\u2019opinion publique ne lui pardonnera jamais vraiment.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Retir\u00e9e de la vie publique, Mathilde Carr\u00e9 meurt \u00e0 Paris en 2007, \u00e0 98 ans, presque oubli\u00e9e.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Une h\u00e9ro\u00efne ou une tra\u00eetresse\u2009?<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">L\u2019histoire de Mathilde Carr\u00e9 r\u00e9siste aux jugements tranch\u00e9s. \u00c9tait-elle une r\u00e9sistante bris\u00e9e, une survivante pragmatique ou une manipulatrice sans scrupules\u2009?
