On se souvient d\u2019un contexte historique, d\u2019un roman o\u00f9 Charles a des conversations \u00ab aussi plates qu\u2019un trottoir de rue \u00bb, qu\u2019Emma est une femme\u00a0 adult\u00e8re, que Berthe est une enfant somme toute peu pr\u00e9sente, que Fabrice Lucchini songe \u00e0 Emma dans le film <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gemma Bovery<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Mais qui se souvient d\u2019Emma avant d\u2019\u00eatre <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Madame Bovary <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">? Il me semble qu\u2019il est temps de lui laisser la parole, de s\u2019expliquer, de se faire comprendre.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Emma est une fille plac\u00e9e au couvent, elle ne lit que des romances \u00e0 l\u2019eau de rose, des contes qui ne sont que fiction, mariage arrang\u00e9 ? Quelle id\u00e9e saugrenue ! Emma r\u00eave, \u00e0 travers la fen\u00eatre, de vivre une vie princi\u00e8re, lit en cachette, n\u2019\u00e9coute pas trop les doctes religieux. Somme toute, \u00ab elle aurait voulu vivre dans quelque vieux manoir, comme ces ch\u00e2telaines au long corsage, qui, sous le tr\u00e8fle des ogives, passaient leurs jours, le coude sur la pierre et le menton dans la main, \u00e0 regarder venir du fond de la campagne un cavalier \u00e0 plume blanche qui galope sur un cheval noir. \u00bb.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Emma esp\u00e8re donc n\u2019\u00eatre non pas le personnage principal mais n\u2019\u00eatre que la seconde, une femme sans trop d\u2019importance qui attend son sauveur : apr\u00e8s tout, pourquoi en serait-il autrement ? Mais la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 fait tomber les masques, lors de sa premi\u00e8re rencontre avec Charles, ce n\u2019est pas lui le cavalier, c\u2019est elle qui tient la cravache ! Et voici que tout son destin se trace de fil en aiguille, Emma est confuse, Charles n\u2019est pas tr\u00e8s bavard, son p\u00e8re la marie \u00e0 un homme qu\u2019elle conna\u00eet \u00e0 peine et dont sa casquette l\u2019agace.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Emma semble alors pi\u00e9g\u00e9e dans une vie qui ne lui convient gu\u00e8re, une vie bien lointaine des aventures merveilleuses qu\u2019elle lisait dans son adolescence. Flaubert, toutefois, ne l\u2019oublie pas, il va lui offrir la vie qu\u2019elle esp\u00e9rait en lui cr\u00e9ant, sur mesure, des aventures d\u2019amant et d\u2019amante. Il y aura d\u2019abord Rodolphe, cet orgueil, cet homme qui ne pense qu\u2019\u00e0 lui, \u00e0 son d\u00e9sir. Emma s\u2019oublie avec lui, se laisse entra\u00eener \u00e0 travers la for\u00eat sur le fameux cheval qu\u2019elle esp\u00e9rait. Mais Rodolphe n\u2019est pas son prince charmant, Emma n\u2019a toujours pas compris que le personnage principal : c\u2019est elle. Fin du premier adult\u00e8re, Emma rentre d\u00e9pourvue chez elle, retrouve son mari dont elle se moque, c\u2019est l\u2019inconditionnel retour \u00e0 une r\u00e9alit\u00e9 qui ne <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">l\u2019enchante pas. Puis, Emma repart, \u00e0 bord du carrosse de L\u00e9on. Cet homme qu\u2019elle trouvait d\u2019abord trop jeune et puis, apr\u00e8s tout pourquoi pas ? Ce sera toujours mieux qu\u2019avec Charles. Mais l\u00e0 encore, Emma est d\u00e9\u00e7ue. Deux adult\u00e8res et un mari au courant qui la laisse pourtant\u00a0 revenir. Elle se terre dans sa chambre, regarde toujours par cette fameuse fen\u00eatre. La voici encore enferm\u00e9e mais cette fois-ci, c\u2019est pire : elle a go\u00fbt\u00e9 \u00e0 la libert\u00e9 romanesque, la libert\u00e9 de tous les possibles mais sa saveur est trop douloureuse pour un \u00eatre tel qu\u2019Emma. Elle se meurt \u00e0 petit feu, se lamente, trouve Berthe laide, ne cherche m\u00eame plus de sens \u00e0 sa r\u00e9alit\u00e9. Elle refuse de vivre dans un monde sans \u00e9merveillement, sans excitation. Elle s\u2019empoisonne alors \u00e0 l\u2019arsenic, meurt horriblement et Charles ne s\u2019en remettra pas.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">N\u2019est-ce pas dans cette mort qu\u2019Emma devient la femme qu\u2019elle devait fatalement \u00eatre ?\u00a0 N\u2019est-ce pas par cette mort qu\u2019elle devient, elle aussi, une grande dame ?\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Madame Bovary<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, c\u2019est le drame d\u2019une enfance mensong\u00e8re, une enfance sucr\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019arri\u00e8re-go\u00fbt amer. C\u2019est le roman de tous les romans, la synth\u00e8se de tous les possibles irr\u00e9els de la litt\u00e9rature, la conjugaison du r\u00eave et de la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 dans un corps de femme. Emma, c\u2019est\u00a0 l\u2019adolescente qui cherche sa maturit\u00e9 dans les livres, c\u2019est le personnage qui refuse de tenir son\u00a0 r\u00f4le, qui s\u2019\u00e9chappe, s\u2019enfuit, cavale, se br\u00fble et fane. C\u2019est la femme en devenir qui ne se r\u00e9concilie pas avec elle-m\u00eame et se consume \u00e0 coups d\u2019espoir bafou\u00e9. C\u2019est la m\u00e8re qui n\u2019a pas v\u00e9cu avant d\u2019avoir un enfant, l\u2019\u00e9pouse consomm\u00e9e sans \u00eatre romanesquement aim\u00e9e. Emma Bovary, c\u2019est l\u2019enfant, l\u2019adolescente et la femme, qui refuse la l\u00e9g\u00e8ret\u00e9 de l\u2019\u00eatre r\u00e9el, la trouvant et la rendant encore plus insoutenable qu\u2019elle ne l\u2019est d\u00e9j\u00e0 en menant une \u00ab vie-bovarysme \u00bb dans une \u00ab vie-bovaresque \u00bb.
